DO YOU KNOW THESE FACTS
ABOUT THE SPRINGFIELD LIBRARY
AND MUSEUMS ASSOCIATION (SLMA)?

Springfield has a current population of about 149,165. There are approximately 57,560 households. (1994 est. from Planning Dept.)

In fiscal year 1997, the SLMA will receive $6,545,990.00 of taxpayer dollars from the City of Springfield representing over 60% of their total budget.

This amount represents a one year contribution to the SLMA by each and every Springfield resident of about $43.00.

However, if every resident of Springfield purchased an individual membership to join the SLMA at $35.00 each, the SLMA would receive only about $5,220,740.00.

Similarly, it each household purchased a family membership at $60.00 each, the SLMA would receive only about $3,453,600.00.

Therefore, each Springfield resident contributes MORE to the SLMA than if we each became individual or family members, and we get LESS service than if we each became members.
