House date plaques are a sign of pride in your home and neighborhood. If you know the year your house was built, for $35 you can order a plaque from the FPCA.
If you don't know when your house was built and don't have time to do the research, the FPCA will do the research and provide a plaque for $75. You will receive a list of the owners of your house, along with dates and references of deed transactions.
To order, send a check payable to FPCA to Ralph Slate, 270 Longhill St. Include the year your house was built, $35, along with your name, address and phone number or request the research service and plaque and enclose $75.
A Guide to Researching the History of Your House outlines lists the different means available to allow you to learn your house's history, describing resources that are available at the Connecticut Valley Historical Museum, the Registry of Deeds, and the Building Department.
The guide is available on the FPCA web site www.forestparkca.com or at the Forest Park Branch Library.
You can also request a copy by contacting Ralph Slate, 732-5818.
