At its special 7:00 meeting, the Springfield City Council voted unanimously and without discussion to establish a Library Department to run the city's library system. Many thanks to the dedicated library advocates who came down one more time to make sure the vote went off without a hitch!

On Thursday, July 3, the mayor will formally sign the order and announce the appointment of library commissioners and the commission chairperson.
