The Deal Has Been Struck

A lease arrangement with with the SLMA has been negotiated by the Mayor

For $1.00 a year the SLMA will lease the Library facilities to the new City Library Department. This lease will run for one year and then will be renegotiated by the new Mayor.

In the newly proposed budget, the SLMA will get, not 1.8 million, but 1.1 million with the Library Department getting 4.5 million.

Depending on the extent of volunteer use, this should work out to the libraries being open 4 hours a day, six days a week or 8 hours a day, four days a week.

The plan, as of now, is for each neighborhood to determine their own hours.
