Attention: Mr. Peter Leight, Assistant Attorney General

Hello!

I am a volunteer graphic artist, and I also volunteer on the committee to save the libraries. I prepare crafts, and educational projects for the children at the Mason Square Branch Library. Mason Square Library is in the hub of that community. It is vital to the small children, and the teenagers that I see use it. I have volunteered with the library system since April 2001. This library has been cut down to a weekly one day of operation. If Ann Curran was wise enough to leave Mason Square resources to survive! If volunteers put their hearts into everything they do for the children! If the citizens of Springfield are supporting the library system with contributions! And if charities may be contributing to their needs! Then I say, "How could the sale of the Mason Square Branch Library, and any other libraries in the city of Springfield possibly take place?" The community has the right to know about how their children will be affected! Many of the schools have cut programs for the lack of money. How can anyone potentially take a child's only outreach source away from them? It is not American! We are supposed to live in a democracy. In a democracy people get their chance to vote on these issues! No one was given a chance!

This is truly heartfelt for me, and with the many volunteers and library workers in the Springfield Community!

Please keep the Mason Square Library the pivotal resource I saw it under the administration of Mr. Reginald Wilson, Supervisor for Mason Square. It was truly a fabulous example for the libraries in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

I am proud to be a volunteer! You receive much more than you give, when you see a small child's eyes beam with happiness! What more can be said! Mason Square is an unstoppable resource for those children!

Thank you very much!

I remain,
