Mr Peter Leight
Assistant Attorney General
Attorney General's Office
1350 Main Street, 4th Floor
Springfield, MA 01103-1629
Dear Attorney Leight,
We are concerned citizens of Springfield. We have all lived in Springfield for
many years. We know about Mason Square Library from our
first-hand use of it. We know that both adults and children enjoy coming to
Mason Square Library to do different things to keep their minds "up to
date".
We ask--"What will happen to the kids if we lose our real library? How
will they do their homework?" They need lots of books to learn, as well
as computers. They need a library so that they learn the importance of a library.
Moreover, taxpayers should know and have a say in how our money is spent. Two
years ago, the SLMA spent $1.2 million to renovate Mason Square and the city
floated a $575,000 bond to help finance those renovations. Now, the Mason Square
Library is being given away for a fraction of that amount.
Please, help keep Mason Square Library as part of the Springfield Library System.
Respectfully,
Lawrence E. Linton
