Helping Around Our Neighborhood
by Amy Zoe Gustman

This column will highlight and introduce the many groups that comprise the Forest Park Neighborhood.

LaBroad Neighborhood Council

is a non-profit organization which was founded in 1993 by Merrill Oltchick to combat crime in the neighborhood. Since the formation of the LaBroad Neighborhood council crime has dropped and the neighborhood has become closer and friendlier. 30 to 50 people meet from 7 to 8 p.m. monthly at Goodwill Industries, located on Dorset Street. On Oct. 29th we will sponsor a city councilor candidates debate. The LaBroad Neighborhood Council would like to focus on getting children and teens involved with their neighborhood which consists of 13 streets bordered by the railroad tracks on Dorset Street, and White Street For any additional information please contact Lyn Nolan, President, at 746-4407.

C-SPY, Community Service Program for Youth

in the Forest Park Neighborhood is a group of volunteer children and adults who work to maintain the Forest Park Neighborhood by picking up trash in OUR neighborhood. C-SPY is having a monthly cleanup on Oct. 25. We meet in the Goodwill Parking Lot and clean from 9 - 12. Please join us if you are tired of looking at all the litter. There will be a party afterwards, sponsored by Walgreens, to thank the C-SPY volunteers for all their hard work this past summer. August 15 was proclaimed C-SPY day this year by Mayor Albano. For more information about C-SPY, please call Amy Gustman at 737-6595.
