The Springfield Library and Museums Association and YOU

DID YOU KNOW.

. that $50.00 in City funds are contributed to the SLMA for every man, woman and child in Springfield?

. that Forest Park's 26,000 people contribute $1,150,000 in taxes to the SLMA?

. that there is NO CONTRACT between the City and the SLMA?

WANT TO LEARN MORE?  Call the SLMA at 263-6800 x 270 and request the following:

. the most recent annual report, listing names of all officers and corporators, which branches are owned by the City and which by the SLMA

.the annual financial statement of the SLMA

. copies of the most recent federal and state reporting forms (IRS 990 and Form PC), financial reporting forms showing fund raising proceeds and expenses, names and addresses of officers, salaries of the five highest paid officers and names and amounts paid to the most highly paid vendors

.attend the Mayor's SLMA budget hearing at the end of the month (call 787-6100 to learn the exact date)

.attend the City Council'S SLMA budget hearing late in June

WANT TO TAKE ACTION?  Join the March from the Forest Park Library to the Mayor's house on Sunday March 11, 2001.

.The City budget process starts with the Mayor; he is also an ex-officio trustee of the SLMA.  Let him know that hours and upkeep at the Forest Park Library is important to you.

.If you are a member of the SLMA, write a letter  to F. William Marshall, chairman of the SLMA board of trustees (37 Ely Road, Longmeadow 01106), pointing out that your membership contribution is in addition to the contribution your family makes through the City budget process.

.Call or write to other City and State officials who are all corporators of the SLMA and who also vote on allocations to the SLMA.  Tell them you want a safe, attractive library that is open for after school use by Forest Park's children.
