Making the
Neighborhood Better for All

Concerned Citizens for Springfield continues to work on a variety of projects around the neighborhood.

The renovation of 46 Forest Park Avenue, an 1897 structure also known as the Forest Park Inn, is nearing completion. In this past year, Putnam Vocational High School carpentry students have installed trim to windows and doors, stained all the woodwork, and hung doors. The new front sidewalk, matching the shape and texture of the original sidewalk has been completed. A new replicated front door is in place. Kitchen cabinets are installed. This two family house is now available for sale.

Efforts have been underway over the winter to improve the two community gardens at Dickinson Street and Beaumont Street.

The property at White and Revere Streets, owned by CCS for about two years, was renovated in part with Housing and Urban Development funds. Improvements, interior and exterior, continue. The most recent project has been landscaping to visually soften the site and provide a better living situation for the residents.

Two store fronts and four apartments at 300 Beltnont Avenue were acquired late in 2001. Apartment renovations are ongoing. For more information about Concerned Citizens for Springfield
