BRIGHT NIGHT IN FOREST PARK
Conclusions

THE ALBANO ADMINISTRATION WANTS TO RENEW THE CONTRACT WITH THE SPIRIT OF SPRINGFIELD.

Despite an unfinished audit, and no public dissemination of the reports for year three, Mayor Albano, Judy Matt, Pres. of S.O.S., Parks Superintendent Patrick Sullivan, and Parks Commission Vice-Chairman Ernest Smith made a special, surprise announcement on TV-22 on January 7, 1998. Under a large Bright Nights display, they announced that "they will renew a 3 year contract with SOS starting November, 1998."

Apparently, the unfinished audit and community concerns are seen as totally irrelevant.

We think that there should be formal public hearings on the renewal of this contract, where the financial and community concerns may be openly discussed.

We urge everyone who cares about this issue to contact the Springfield City Councilors, the Mayors Office and the Parks Dept and the members of the Parks Commission to voice their concerns.
