Minutes from the Annual Meeting

held on February 6, 2000

 

Meeting was held at the First Park Memorial Baptist Church.  The meeting was called to order at 3:10pm. 

 

The first half of the meeting consisted of Association business.  A review of the year’s events included: 

·        The Belmont Avenue Law Suit-the appeal is currently in the court

·        The 2nd Annual House tour grossed $5,692.00

·        This was the 2nd year for the Farmers Market

·        The Shell Station Drive Thru appeal was not successful despite many efforts

·        Publication of the newsletter continues to excel

·        There was continual work on relations with the Spirit of Springfield with regards to Bright Nights

·        Bob Triggs was successful in the development of Red Hill as a sledding site within Forest Park, especially during the Bright Nights period of time

·        The purchasing of 500 daffodil bulbs to commence the use of the Dashevsky fund.  The fund is for the purpose of beautification projects only.  Jan Hines will be coordinating this fund in the future.

·        The X Main Street Corporation’s addition of Scott Hanson

·        The Bing revival coordinated by Kevin Sears

·        Concerned Citizens building and selling homes within the neighborhood

·        Sumner Avenue Elementary School, renovation and improvement making it a positive learning atmosphere

 

The treasure’s report was submitted, motion made to accept, seconded, voted and approved.

 

The new board members selected by the nominating committee were presented and voted into office for the 2000/2001 year.  There were no additional nominations from the floor.

 

The business aspect of the meeting adjourned at 3:35pm. 

 

The second half of the meeting consisted of a panel discussion on Forest Park Heights Historic District.  Guest speakers were:  Jim Boone, Hank Thorburn and William Devlin.

 

Regarding future meetings, each committee will be requested to submit a monthly activity report to update board members at monthly meetings.  A spokesperson for each committee will be allotted 10-15 minutes to speak.  For the first meeting in March, each committee is requested to provide a definition of their committee and tasks responsible to that committee.
